Caitlin Clark should just take up residency inside the Target Center.

After an Iowa career where she and the Hawkeyes completed a Big Ten Tournament 3-peat inside the Target Center and turned the venue into Carver North, Clark picked right back up where she left off on Sunday afternoon.

Though it was a slow first half, Clark saved her best for last in an 81-74 comeback victory over the Minnesota Lynx. The Fever erased a seven-point deficit to start the fourth as Clark scored 10 fourth-quarter points.

Clark finished with 17 points, six assists, three rebounds and two steals in the win over the Lynx. Five of those assists came after halftime for Clark.

The Fever got strong performances from each of their All-Stars as guard Kelsey Mitchell delivered a game-high 21 points and forward Aliyah Boston tallied a double-double with 17 points and 16 rebounds.

It was another example of just how much this team has grown and how far they’ve come since a 1-8 start to the season.

Of course, there may be a little bit extra to this matchup for Clark. Minnesota Lynx head coach Cheryl Reeve is also USA Basketball’s head coach for the Paris Games. USA Basketball elected to leave Clark off its Paris Games roster and that created quite the controversy among fans back in early June.

Plenty of analysts thought the decision to leave Clark off the USA Basketball roster was a mistake, too. USA TODAY Sports’ Christine Brennan described the decision as an “airball.”

Whether or not there was really any added juice behind closed doors for Clark, fans certainly enjoyed the end-of-game display from Clark. As the final seconds dripped away in the Fever victory over the Lynx, Clark signaled to the crowd to make some noise.

The large contingent of Iowa and Fever fans obliged. Given the history, fans loved Clark seemingly treating the Target Center like her and the Fever’s home court.
