Just like in college, the conversation surrounding Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark won’t be ending anytime soon.
It’s been quite the week for the WNBA rookies.
Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese will team up on the WNBA All-Star team to play against the U.S. Olympic team.
The pair of remarkable rookies received thousands of votes. Clark was the leading vote-getter from the fans, receiving 700,735 votes, while Reese was fifth with 381,518 votes.
During this Friday’s edition of “Get Up,” ESPN commentator Monica McNutt argued why she would have Reese as the favorite to win Rookie of the Year over Clark.
She brought up the overall standings as pertaining to the playoffs as well as Reese having 11-straight double-doubles.
“My rookie of the year is going to go based on the standings. That is how you have the opportunity to measure impact. And the Sky right now are in the playoffs. So, you’d have to give the nod in my mind to Angel Reese,” McNutt said. “Look, the double-double streak she’s rocking and rolling. She already has 11 straight.”
As of right now, the Chicago Sky are 7-11 and sit in 8th place in the league, while the Indiana Fever are 8-13 and sit in ninth place, which is just outside the playoff picture.
Clark and the Fever played a brutal schedule that included 11 games in a 20-day stretch, and it had them starting the year 0-5. However, they are 8-8 since, with Clark leading the team in both assists and steals while also averaging 16 points and 5.7 rebounds per game.
She nearly recorded a triple-double on Sunday against Phoenix, finishing with 15 points, 12 assists, and nine rebounds.
Angel Reese Records 11th Straight Double-Double
Angel Reese’s standout rookie season reached new heights earlier this week as she led the Chicago Sky to an 85-77 victory over the Atlanta Dream with another remarkable performance.
In that contest, the dynamic forward had 12 points and an impressive 19 rebounds, extending her WNBA record streak of consecutive games with a double-double to 11.
This latest feat comes just 18 games into her WNBA career, surpassing the previous mark held by Candace Parker.
