Caitlin Clark is a hot commodity this season, but ESPN has revealed her shocking plans (PO)

Clark would be giving up a good chunk of change in order to rest.

Caitlin Clark has some things to consider.

Caitlin Clark‘s rookie season went just about as smoothly as anyone could have expected. Although Candace Parker showed that it’s possible for a rookie to win WNBA MVP, that was always a truly impossible proposition for Clark given how much talent the league has at the moment.

Clark was still outstanding, making the All-Star Game and winning Rookie of the Year almost unanimously. Her most impressive accomplishment may have been helping the Indiana Fever reach the playoffs, one year after a terrible 2023 season. Unfortunately, the Fever’s playoff stint was short-lived. Given the WNBA’s short schedule, it will now be a while before we see Clark on a court again.

Thank you for watching

The WNBA season doesn’t begin until next April, in over five months. Given that long layoff, some WNBA colleagues have started up a 3-on-3 league called “Unrivaled”, which already has several stars under contract. In recent days, it has been reported that the league is making a hard push to sign Clark.

Caitlin Clark is not expected to sign with Unrivaled

Despite having so much down time and the money being tempting, Clark’s offseason plans were revealed nearly a month ago during the Fever’s final loss of the season to the Connecticut Sun by ESPN play-by-play commentator Ryan Ruocco.

She said she almost definitely will not play basketball this offseason. So it is likely we will not see her play again until April. Not overseas, not 3-on-3, at least that’s her current plan.

It’s possible Clark’s plans have changed since then, given she’s had time to mull the offer. But everything points to Clark wanting and needing a break from basketball.

She barely got any time to rest following a demanding final season at Iowa, starting her WNBA career just one month after losing to South Carolina in the NCAA Championship. She needs to reset mentally and physically.
