JJ Redick set to END LeBron James podcast after taking the Lakers job – as new head coach insists he ‘doesn’t give a f**k’ about his doubters at unveiling press conference

JJ Redick will pause his podcast with LeBron James as they take a new player-coach relationship.

On June 20, the Los Angeles Lakers hired Redick on a four-year, $32million deal to replace Darvin Ham, who got fired after losing to the Denver Nuggets in the playoffs.

Before securing his new position, despite having zero experience, Redick and James launched the ‘Mind the Game’ podcast and quickly found prominence in the medium.

However, the former NBA guard revealed putting content creating aside to focus on the drawing board this season.

‘For the time being, and hopefully it’s a very, very long time, I am excommunicated from the content space,’ Redick said on Monday. ‘There will be no podcasts.’

‘We’ll do something when I have a breather from what we have coming up — I’m gonna be drinking from a fire hose for the next month.’

The former Duke star played in the NBA for 15 seasons before retiring in 2021. His career included stints with the Orlando Magic, Milwaukee Bucks, LA Clippers, Philadelphia 76ers, New Orleans Pelicans, and Dallas Mavericks.

After leaving the court, Redick found success as a commentator for ESPN and made regular appearances on First Take as an NBA analyst.

Redick ultimately got hired after a rollercoaster of a candidate search – during which UConn coach Dan Hurley reportedly turned down a lucrative six-year, $70m offer to take the reigns in the City of Stars.

While many question his lack of experience, Reddick made his apathy towards the misconceptions and concerns crystal clear.

‘I’ve certainly heard everything,’ Redick said in his introductory press conference. ‘It’s been an interesting six weeks or so, just in terms of being part of the engagement farming industry.’

‘However, I really don’t give a f***,’ he claimed. ‘I want to coach the Lakers. I wanna coach the team. I don’t wanna dispel anything, I don’t. I wanna become a great coach in the NBA.’

‘I wanna win championships. And I want my players to maximize their careers.’
