ROTY Caitlin Clark hits new Milestone in a realm where Angel Reese reigns supreme

Caitlin Clark had, arguably, one of the greatest runs as a rookie this WNBA season, which ended with the Rookie of the Year trophy.

During her rookie season, the Indiana Fever superstar broke several records and hit many milestones on and off the court.

However, her most recent off-court milestone is in a realm where her rival Angel Reese is far ahead of her. Caitlin Clark hit the three million followers mark on her official Instagram handle and Vanshay Murdok made a post on X to remind her of this achievement.

Angel Reese, however, had surpassed Clark at the social media game months before. The Chicago Sky rookie has 4.3 million followers on Instagram and is the most-followed WNBA rookie this season. She also thanked her fans and teased a big announcement when she hit the 4 million mark.

Reese was a frontrunner for the Rookie of the Year race alongside Caitlin Clark but retired early because of a season-ending wrist injury. The Indiana Fever rookie, on the other hand, went on to win the award after leading her team to a playoff qualification.

Caitlin Clark wins the ROTY award with a one-sided dominance in votes

Caitlin Clark won the Rookie of the Year award with a dominant performance leaving every other rookie in the shambles. The Indiana Fever rookie was one vote short of a unanimous win.

Clark secured 66 out of 67 votes to win the honor. The sole vote that the Fever star did not secure was won by none other than her Chicago Sky rival Angel Reese.

Caitlin Clark did remarkable things in her rookie season which justified her receiving the award. She led the league in assists, surpassing veteran floor generals like Alyssa Thomas and Natasha Cloud. Moreover, she broke the record for most assists provided in a single game.

In addition to that, she also became the only rookie to have scored a triple-double in her rookie season, a feat which she repeated one more time. However, Clark’s amazing achievements don’t take away from the fact that Angel Reese also had a great rookie season.

Although she did not win the award, she was quite close as a top pick to win midway through the season. Reese turned herself into a double-double machine, breaking and setting a new record for most consecutive double-doubles in a single season.

Even though she was mocked for her poor offensive prowess, she compensated for it through her elite rebounding skills and led the league in rebounds. She was an important asset for the Chicago Sky as after her injury, they lost their final five games, fumbling the 8th seed spot and their playoffs ticket.
