Caitlin Clark has refused to confirm whether or not she’ll compete in the 3-point contest at the WNBA‘s All-Star game.
It was announced earlier this week that Clark and Angel Reese will team up on the All-Star team to play against the U.S. Olympic team led by A’ja Wilson and Breanna Stewart.
The rookies were selected by a combination of votes from the media, players and fans as well as the league’s 12 coaches to play in the game in Phoenix on July 20. It’s the 20th All-Star Game in the league’s history.
Clark was the leading vote-getter from the fans, receiving 700,735 with her Indiana teammate Aliyah Boston finishing second 72,000 votes behind. Reese was fifth with 381,518 votes.
But Clark, whose renowned 3-point shooting is one of the reasons she’s so adored by fans, remained coy when asked on Friday whether she’ll compete in the 3-point contest in Arizona.
She told reporters: ‘Remains to be seen, we’ll see.
‘I haven’t decided. Can’t give you guys every answer today.’
The league will have a 3-point challenge and skill contest the night before the All-Star game.
Clark, who posted an impressive 37.8 3-point percentage at Iowa last season, would be one of the favorites to win the contest if she entered.
She currently has a 33.7 per cent conversion rate for the Fever.
Speaking about getting picked for the All-Star team, Clark added: ‘It’s super cool.
‘I think also to be there with Kelsey [Mitchell] and Aliyah [Boston] it’s obviously really hard for a franchise to get three of their own players to be there together. It’s not anything you take for granted.’
