The Chiefs missed too many players in the 2024 season. WRs like Skyy Moore, Rashee Rice, and Marquise ‘Hollywood’ Brown were on the injured reserve lists. However, as their QB Patrick Mahomes had once said, these would be more useful for them in the finishing stages of the season. And he’s proving to be right.
On December 15, the team would play their week 15 matchup against the Browns. Their WR Hollywood Brown is expected to play in the game. And Mahomes is happy. He announced his joy by immediately posting a clock emoji on X. He is feeling confident after getting his key player back.

During the offseason, the receiver signed a 1-year $11 million. Initially, it looked like it was a good bargain as he and Patrick Mahomes struck a great rapport. During an interview with ESPN in July this year, the QB was all praises for the WR and said, “It is a great group that all mesh well together and so I’m excited for their future. The sky is the limit.’’ The big jolt came in the preseason when he suffered a shoulder injury.
However, things are different now. He missed the first 14 weeks of the 2024 season. The Chiefdom would hope that he would help them gain wins by more margins. According to the December 12 injury report list, he was still there. But we can expect his window to be opened on Friday or Monday.
The Grim Reaper also understands that coming back from such a long break needs some shakeup and said, “I’m excited for him, and hopefully he’s able to get out there quicker, sooner rather than later.” That’s interesting. The team would have liked him playing against the Browns. There’s a possibility.
Patrick Mahomes reveals his mindset on close games
After week 14, the Chiefs are a relaxed team. They qualified for the playoffs and clinched the 9th straight AFC West title. But the journey wasn’t easy. They had quite a few games like week 2 against the Bengals, which they won 26-25. They won the week 13 game against the Raiders and the week 14 game against the Chargers by 19-17.
Patrick Mahomes was asked about the pressure in such close games in a press conference on December 11. He calmly replied, “I think when I’m not on the field I’m nervous as well, so I mean have total confidence in our defense and everything like that.” That’s how you boost the confidence of your locker room.
Now, the team is pumped and wants to finish as the AFC top seed. It’s not a very tough job as they have 12 wins while the 2nd-placed Bills have 10 wins after week 14. But both teams would like to enter playoffs with a winning campaign. Can they do it? We’ll find out soon.
