With the WNBA off-season in full blast, talk of a possible team-up between Caitlin Clark and Dallas Wings free agent Satou Sabally has emerged. The Indiana Fever’s return to the playoffs, led by a core of Clark, Aliyah Boston, Kelsey Mitchell and Lexie Hull, has made the team attractive to free agents. Sabally, an unrestricted free agent, could be interested in joining them.

In a TikTok video on Thursday, Sabally, the 2023 WNBA Most Improved Player, shared her excitement about the off-season. She told her fans about her free agency, hinting that she may switch shoe brands and even sign with a new team.

Last season, Satou Sabally earned $195K with the Dallas Wings. The Fever can offer her more than that while still keeping the core that carried them to the playoffs. She could become Clark’s teammate next season if the Fever can convince her to join the team.

Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever could lose Erica Wheeler to make room for Satou Sabally
Kelsey Mitchell, Erica Wheeler and Temi Fagbenle entered unrestricted free agency after the Indiana Fever were swept by the Connecticut Sun in the playoffs. Mitchell, who formed an All-Star backcourt with Caitlin Clark, is Indiana’s priority to keep. The lefty guard is reportedly hoping to earn more than the three-year, $618K contract extension she signed in March 2021.

With the salary cap expected to increase to $1.5 million from $1.4 million this year, the Fever could accommodate Mitchell and also land Satou Sabally. To bring Sabally to Indiana, the team’s front office needs to let Erica Wheeler go.

Wheeler earned $202K last year, more than what Sabally pocketed in Dallas. A two-year, $415K offer could be enough to make the German international one of Clark’s teammates next season.

Satou Sabally can upgrade the roster around Caitlin Clark
In her last two seasons with the Dallas Wings, Sabally averaged 18.4 points per game on 43.2% shooting, including 39.0% from deep. She also contributed 7.6 rebounds, 4.6 assists and 1.6 steals per contest. Sabally could boost the frontcourt supporting Caitlin Clark.

The Fever could make her the starting power forward if they decide to trade NaLyssa Smith. Indiana could also keep Smith and ask her to come off the bench.

A lineup of Sabally, Mitchell, Clark, Lexie Hull and Aliyah Boston would give the Fever one of the best starting lineups in the WNBA.
