The Indiana Fever have taken a major step in restructuring their future by announcing the dismissal of head coach Christie Sides on Sunday.
This decision comes after Sides spent two years with the team, steering them through a pivotal phase of growth and development.
During her tenure, Sides led the team to 33 wins against 47 losses, ending the most recent season with a balanced 20-20 record.
The Fever made it to the playoffs as the sixth seed but were knocked out in the first round by the Connecticut Sun.
Despite their playoff appearance, the Fever joins five other WNBA teams-Dallas, Atlanta, Los Angeles, Chicago, and Washington-who have made coaching changes this offseason.

Fever president of basketball operations Kelly Krauskopf expressed appreciation for Sides’ leadership during a critical period for the team.
Krauskopf stated, “We are incredibly thankful to Coach Sides for embracing the challenge of leading us through an integral transition period over the last two seasons, while also positioning us well for future growth.”
She added, “While decisions like these are never easy, it is also imperative that we remain bold and assertive in the pursuit of our goals, which includes maximizing our talent and bringing another WNBA championship back to Indiana.
“Coach Sides was an incredible representative of the Fever and our community, and we wish her nothing but success in the future.”
Krauskopf, who recently returned to the Fever after her stint with the Indiana Pacers, is determined to guide the team back to championship contention as they move forward without Sides.
Caitlin Clark’s reaction raises questions
Interestingly, Caitlin Clark’s response-or lack thereof-to the firing has caught the attention of fans. So far, the star guard has not made any public comments or posted on social media regarding Sides’ departure, leaving fans to wonder whether she agrees with the decision.
