Syndication: The Des Moines RegisterCaitlin Clark and Gabbie Marshall celebrate the win after beating LSU in Elite 8

Caitlin Clark posted words of motivation for her former Iowa Hawkeyes teammate Gabbie Marshall, who penned a heartfelt message on Instagram reflecting on her basketball journey.

As Marshall prepares for the next chapter of her life, she shared a series of images from her childhood and headline-worthy runs in an Iowa jersey.

In a warming gesture, Caitlin Clark reposted one of the pictures from Gabbie’s carousel with a touching message.

“Forever proud of you,” Clark wrote.

Aside from that, Caitlin Clark also left a lovely comment on Gabbie’s emotional post.

“I love you forever and always. My girl for life,” Clark quipped.

Marshall joined Iowa a year before Clark, and the two cultivated a bond through their four years of partnership. Even though their last two years ended a few steps away from lifting the national title, they tasted success in the form of a regular-season Big Ten championship in 2022 and three Big Ten tournament championships (2022, 2023, and 2024).

Caitlin Clark is currently transitioning to the WNBA, looking for her first win in the league with the Indiana Fever. On the other hand, Marshall’s prime focus has always been studies. With that, despite being eligible to declare for the 2024 draft, she has prioritized getting her master’s degree in occupational therapy.

Caitlin Clark might need some time to adjust to the WNBA

In her WNBA debut, Clark posted a decent 20 points. However, she failed to produce her hot shooting touch from the floor, sinking only four of her 11 3-point attempts. Moreover, she also had a whopping 10 turnovers in 32 minutes of court time.

Even though she adjusted her touches in the next game by crashing the glass with seven rebounds and dishing six dimes, her shooting struggles continued. She managed to score just nine points while sinking only one of seven three-ball attempts.

Nevertheless, in a rematch against the New York Liberty, Clark churned out the best performance of her young pro career – 22 points, 8 assists, and 6 rebounds while shooting 9 of 17 from the floor (52%). However, the Fever suffered another double-digit loss, marking a dismal 0-3 start to the season.
