Dominik Szoboszlai wants UEFA to change its protocols following Barnabas Varga’s medical incident.

Dominik Szoboszlai has called for UEFA to change its protocols over medical incidents following Barnabas Varga’s sickening collision with Angus Gunn.

Hungary scored a dramatic goal deep, deep into injury time to beat Scotland 1-0 on Sunday.

They have three points in Group A and could book their place in the next round of Euro 2024 depending on other results.

But Hungary’s stunning victory was marred by Varga’s medical incident in the second-half of their match.

Varga collided with Gunn and required urgent medical attention as he was treated on the field.

After the match, Hungary boss Marco Rossi provided an update on the well-being of the forward.

Liverpool star Szoboszlai also spoke to the media following the game and demanded UFEA change protocols over medical emergencies.

He believes medical teams should enter the field of play without any signal from the officials, saying ‘seconds can help a lot’.

On Varga’s condition, the 23-year-old revealed: “He’s okay. He’s in the hospital.

“He needs some surgery on his face and his nose. I think he’s going to have surgery tomorrow.”

He added: “It looked bad, it was bad, it felt bad.

“I don’t really know the protocols or how it works, but if our doctors say we need someone immediately to help, then I don’t think they should walk.

“It’s not my decision, but I think we need to change something.”

Szoboszlai concluded: “Even if someone is on the ground, and you that it was a big collision, then just go on [the pitch].

“Even if the referee is saying don’t go on, just go on. And if you can see it’s nothing serious, then you can just go down and it’s finished. But seconds can help a lot.”

The Hungary captain will be hoping their win over Scotland is enough to claim a spot in the knockout round of the tournament.
