Tommy DeVito has become a popular fad on the NFL landscape in recent weeks. He came back down to Earth on Sunday.

His stock rose even higher after the New York Giants defeated the Green Bay Packers. In an attempt to capitalize off his new fame, DeVito screwed over a local family business.

 

According to a local New Jersey pizza place, DeVito tried to double his appearance fee and now they can no longer afford to bring him out.
“Coniglio’s pizzeria and bakery in Morristown, NJ says that it will no longer have Tommy DeVito at the restaurant this Tuesday. They said they were told his fee increased from $10,000 to $20,000 after the Packers win and the family biz said they couldn’t afford it,” Darren Rovell tweeted.

DeVito will earn a prorated salary of roughly $44,000 per week for every game he is on the active roster for the remainder of the season, according to NorthJersey.com. It’s no secret as to why he would want to make more money since his contract is not giving him much.

DeVito initially received a $10,000 signing bonus and $10,000 base salary guarantee when he signed with New York back in April, according to NFL reporter Tom Pelissero. He could be in line to earn significantly more than that, depending on how the rest of the season goes.

On Sunday, DeVito came back to Earth in the game against the New Orleans Saints. DeVito completed 20 of his 34 passes for 177 scoreless yards and added 36 yards on four carries in a 24-6 loss to the Saints in Week 15.

DeVito was held out of the end zone for the first time in his career in games he started, although his 36 rushing yards led the team.
