Former Miami Dolphins Pro Bowl cornerback Xavien Howard is reportedly interested in signing with a dark horse Super Bowl contender in the AFC.

Last week, it was reported that the Dolphins plan to release Howard post-June 1, which will free up $18.5 million in cap space. And if Howard gets his wish, another contender in the AFC will come calling.

According to ESPN’s D.J. Bien-Aime, the four-time Pro Bowler “has interest in” signing with the Houston Texans. As Bien-aime noted, the Baylor product is from Houston.

Howard to Houston makes plenty of sense for several reasons. One, they’re on the cusp of competing for a Super Bowl following a trip to the elite eight with rookie QB C.J. Stroud and first-year head coach DeMeco Ryans.

On top of that, Howard’s arrival would mean lining up alongside fellow star cornerback Derek Stingley Jr., who came into his own as an all-world cover corner last season.
