Simon Jordan and Frank Warren had a heated debate over Tyson Fury on talkSPORT.

Fury was beaten by Oleksandr Usyk in their undisputed heavyweight title showdown in Saudi Arabia, having been knocked down in the ninth round and surviving to lose a split decision.

In the ring afterwards, the ‘Gypsy King’ and made the suggestion that the judges sided with Usyk due to the ongoing Ukraine war with Russia.

On Tuesday, Fury’s promoter Warren joined talkSPORT and leapt to the defence of the former WBC champion and suggested his bipolar condition was responsible.

Warren began: “Tyson is bipolar, it is a serious mental illness. One of the symptoms on the NHS website is ‘making decisions or saying things that are out of character’.

“He isn’t a thug. He hasn’t hit anybody, a couple of things have been said because you say what is in your head.”

talkSPORT host Jordan was in no mood to let Warren bat away Fury’s comments.

He hit back: “I understand Frank, but does this mean when Tyson and those around him go off on disrespectful, insulting and diminishing comments – does this mean that we have to feel sorry for Tyson because he has bipolar? We have to sit and prise that into our thinking and give him a pass on it?”

Warren responded: “No, no-one is saying that. Whatever his team say isn’t Tyson. You could prefix it by saying he has bipolar.

“No-one has said how the fighters embraced each other and how Tyson kissed him about three times.”

Jordan claimed that the former WBC champion’s comments have been ‘thuggish’, including making criticism of his previous pre-fight insults aimed at Usyk.

Warren then continued his defence of the British heavyweight before the conversation turned towards Fury’s banning of talkSPORT.

Fury has refused to speak to talkSPORT over comments made following the collapse of the Usyk fight for it’s original planned date in early 2023.

Jordan questioned Warren over the ban, beginning: “I don’t feel that what you are pushing back against is unfair comment.

“I understand that some are trying to put the boot in because he has lost now.

“I also think that the way Tyson Fury has engaged and the ban that has been put on talkSPORT is preposterous. I have been a major advocate of his over the years.

“I have had to listen to Tyson’s disposition on [me] losing money and what I am etc. And there comes a point where people are getting fed up with it.”

Warren then responded: “I find it very simplistic. If he is continuously getting stick, he doesn’t have to speak to you.

“He is under no obligation to speak to you, and some fighters don’t even talk to the press.”

Jordan’s fellow host Jim White then asked further about Fury’s ‘reaction to criticism’, to which Warren added: “It’s not criticism, it is things he comes out with.

“Because you have a voice on radio, it doesn’t mean it’s all okay. If he takes exception to it, he has a personal choice whether to speak to you.

“I take exception to the fact you don’t know him. I know him and what he has been through, he has been officially diagnosed with bipolar.

“So you have to take this into account, all you geniuses who seem to think you know everything. You don’t know the man.

“I’ve cringed at a few things he has said, but I know him and I know what goes down.”

Jordan then concluded the conversation in a final row, defending his own comments: “The reasons why everyone got the needle about it.

“I never said he ducked the Usyk fight, it was put to Tyson over Usyk’s comments on another forum.

“Six months ago, someone said something and now they are picking it up and that’s where the problems developed from. It’s cobblers Frank.”

Warren had the final word, concluding: “He didn’t want to talk to you long before Saudi, it’s not true.

“There was a suggestion he would duck it, Adam Catterall said it.

“The fact of life is you aren’t in a position that he wants to build bridges with you.”
