“Caitlin Clark should be drafted in NBA”: Former SB champ Antonio Brown makes this thought clear on 2023-24 college basketball season

Former Super Bowl champ Antonio Brown recently went on X to share his thoughts on the recent women`s college basketball season. Among his notable observations was the legendary run Caitlin Clark had for Iowa, despite the Hawkeyes’ eventual loss in the national title game.

He even said that the current Indiana Fever’s top overall pick should be drafted to the NBA instead:

Aside from that, Brown also claimed that this season’s women`s college basketball was better than the men`s and had better star power. He also highlighted UConn`s Paige Bueckers and USC`s JuJu Watkins as the next players to watch out for in the upcoming season. Notably, Bueckers skipped this year`s WNBA Draft to return to Storrs for her final year of eligibility.

Watkins, on the other hand, is just entering her prime college years with the Trojans after leading USC to an Elite Eight appearance in just her freshman year. With Clark set to make her waves in the WNBA, Watkins and her Trojans are next in line.

Caitlin Clark`s 23-24 season records at a glance

It was no surprise that Caitlin Clark was picked first overall in this year`s draft, with fans and experts saying it was a mere formality. This was due to the former Iowa star going ballistic in the 2023-2024 NCAAW season, setting one new scoring record after another.

Aside from just finishing as the NCAA Division 1 basketball all-time leading scorer (men or women), Caitlin Clark also set the record for most career three-pointers made in a season (surpassing Steph Curry). Following is a laundry list of her other records (via ESPN):

Passed Temeka Johnson for the most career assists in NCAA tournament history
Passed Diana Taurasi for the most career 3-pt FG in NCAA tournament history
Passed Taylor Robertson for most career 3-pt FG in Division I history
Became the first Division I women’s player to score at least 1,000 points in two different seasons

With a veritable list of individual accolades and records, fans understandably believe Clark’s talent to be up there among the best. While playing in the NBA may not be an option, her mere presence in the WNBA is invaluable.

Commissioner Cathy Engelbert projected that with a talent as great as Clark coming in (alongside her other peers from the 2024 draft), the WNBA’s media rights deal payout is at least double from its current value of around $60 million (via Front Office Sports).
