Imitation is the best form of flattery. Even though the Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo left Manchester United on a bitter note, his former teammate Alejandro Garnacho is still keeping his legacy alive in the Premier League by copying his celebrations. But this time a shocking 4-3 loss for United against Chelsea resulted in a former Premier League star unleashing his wrath towards Garnacho for his celebration after scoring a goal. But should the teenager be blamed just for imitating his favorite player?

It must be mentioned that the Argentine’s performance in the game against Chelsea was top-class. Nevertheless, former Arsenal superstar, Martin Keown was bothered by United players’ supposedly misplaced priorities instead of sealing the game. Speaking on talkSPORT, while taking a dig at United player’s inability to see out the game, Keown said, “The way that the players celebrate, Garnacho get your backside off the advertising board and get back and get ready to defend because the opposition will come at you.”

The Argentinian youngster scored two incredible goals and the second one gave the Red Devils a one-goal lead. Garnacho’s ecstasy was understandable as United were in the lead after being two goals down in just the 19th minute. After heading a brilliant cross from Antony,  in the 67th minute, the 19-year-old sat on the advertising board with hands on his hips, executing one of Ronaldo’s signature celebration to perfection.

Moreover, it is not the first time the Albiceleste international used CR7’s celebration. Ronaldo’s ‘Siu’ celebration was done by the winger several times earlier resulting in his criticism. Moreover, Keown further said, “Everybody’s celebrating that goal, I’m not having it…. I want you back in position and you give me something defensively,” clarifying that the lack of game awareness from United was the problem.

Manchester United’s players’ mentality questioned

United’s repeated lapses in defending handed the momentum back to Chelsea in the dying minutes of the game. The Blues scored two late goals in the 100′ and 101′ minutes to win the game. But, it wasn’t just Alejandro Garnacho who was criticized. United winger Anthony, despite performed well in the Chelsea game, came under fire from Keown, who said, “They’re giving the team moments you know. What about the ball Anthony’s ball? Fantastic, but that’s the first assist of the season, for goodness sake. And we want to talk about it forever like the ball of the season.”
