NC State’s DJ Burns Jr. Reveals What He Said To Zach Edey That Made Him Burst Into Laughter During Final Four Matchup

The two biggest stars in this year’s Final Four certainly had a ton of fun and DJ Burns Jr. is speaking out on how he had Zach Edey laughing during their intense matchup.

North Carolina State’s DJ Burns Jr. is not a small man but he found himself looking way up at Purdue’s Zach Edey during Saturday’s Final Four matchup in the 2024 NCAA men’s tournament.

After the game, DJ Burns Jr. told reporters he had to mention something to Edey that was on his mind and it made him laugh out loud during the game.

Burns is listed at 6’9″ and 275 pounds, while Edey is listed at 7’4″ and 300 pounds.

DJ Burns getting Edey to laugh did not throw the big man off of his game as the 7-foot-4 beast finished the contest with 20 points, 12 rebounds, and four assists in the 13-point win.

DJ Burns did not have his typical game as managed just eight points, four assists, and one assist in 27 minutes, according to ESPN.com.

The 63-50 victory advanced Purdue to the national championship for the second time in program history as their first came way back in 1929 when they lost to the UCLA Bruins.

North Carolina State star DJ Burns likely has a future in the NBA after his tournament run, but he may also have some interest in another sport.

N.C. State’s unexpected NCAA men’s tournament run gave NBA talent evaluators reason to select the fifth-year senior at some point in the two rounds of this year’s draft.

Aside from that, Burns’ combination of size and athleticism could earn him the chance to make an unprecedented move from NCAA power forward to NFL offensive tackle. There is reportedly some interest in DJBurns from some NFL teams.

The North Carolina State star didn’t rule it out because he’s “not a closed-minded person” but wanted to pursue other basketball options first as he explained in a recent interview with Dan Patrick.
