Apparently, the rapper is a pretty good boxer.
Boxing legend Oscar De La Hoya has said that he would be happy to take on rapper Eminem in a charity boxing match.
There’s no celebrity feud involved, though, in fact De La Hoya was bigging up Eminem’s fighting skills when the idea of a charity match was involved.
Speaking on The Whoolywood Shuffle, De La Hoya said: “The late, great Emanuel Steward, who trained me for maybe about four or five fights, he once showed me a video where he was training Eminem.
“Man, he had some moves. He was punching the hand mitts and he was moving and he looked really good, actually, with a lot of power.”
The host jokes that De La Hoya should sign up Eminem, who responds by saying they should “do a charity box-off.”
Before adding: “I can come down in weight.”
It shouldn’t be too much of a surprise to learn that Eminem is an OK-looking fighter; he was originally chosen to star in the film Southpaw before the role was eventually given to Jake Gyllenhaal. He had to drop out due to work commitments with his album, however he did add to the soundtrack.
I’m keen to see how Eminem responds to this – I think he seems like the type of fella to sign himself up.
It started off over a silly photo, but it seemed like it was definitely on when Floyd Mayweather began training Soulja Boy and then, for some reason, 50 Cent got involved and said he would be betting on Chris Brown after it was announced that fact-tattoo-loving former world champ Mike Tyson would be training him.
The bizarre story seemed to reach a conclusion when it was announced by TMZ that any plans for the pair to fight in Vegas would be nipped in the bud, as neither of them would pass the mandatory drugs test. However, it was then reported that the pair could fly off to Dubai, where rules are looser, apparently.
So it all seemed set, until Chris Brown announced late last month that he was bowing out. He said: “I’ma tell you why, because it was a legit thing on a positive scale. All the wrong people got in the way. The middle man people got in the way.
“The homies, so to speak, got in the way cause they wanna get a piece of the pie. It’s immature, first and foremost. Second of all, ain’t no n***a gon’ ever hold me up. So, however everything goes, this how we rock. He gon’ see me, he gon’ see me. I ain’t out here moving, nothing crazy. But just don’t believe all that bullshit.”
Fair enough, mate, but you do know people are gonna say bottled it, don’t you?
