Former New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick faced reporters on Thursday following an announcement from the team revealing that they had decided to mutually part ways.

Belichick leaves the Patriots after 24 years in charge and having coached them to six Super Bowls.

Following a 4-13 end to the season, owner Robert Krat chose to pull the plug and, in doing so, ended a relationship with the man who was the longest-tenured head coach in the league.

Belichick, who typically presents an icy demeanor, seemed to be in a very relaxed mood when he stepped up to the podium to speak to the media and shockingly started with a joke.

“Good morning. I haven’t seen this many cameras since we signed Tebow,” he quipped.

We’re not kidding. Check it out right below:

“Robert and I, after a series of discussions, have mutually agreed to part ways. For me, this is a day of gratitude and celebration,” he went on to say.

The 71-year-old has since been linked to multiple NFL teams, with the Atlanta Falcons thought to be one of the main options. But he claimed he will always be a patriot and can’t wait to return.

“I’ll always be a Patriot,” he added. “I look forward to coming back here. But at this time, we’re going to move on and I’m excited for the future. But always very, very appreciative of the opportunity here, the support here. I’ll always have those great memories. I’ll carry those with me the rest of my life.”
