A former NFL player who racked up over $40 million in career earnings is currently being sought by police north of the border.

According to a report from Jack Landau of the Daily Hive, police in Canada are searching for former NFL player Buster Skrine after he skipped a court date. Skrine allegedly took off the GPS ankle bracelet he was required to wear after being charged with bank fraud.

Police in Durham, Ontario shared a press release and image of Skrine, who is 5-foot-9 and 35 years old. Skrine was arrested at the Toronto Pearson International Airport last August on several fraud charges:

Per the press release, Skrine was transferred to the Saskatchewan Correctional Centre last month with more charges pending. He was scheduled to appear in Court on Monday but did not show up, and his GPS bracelet went offline.

Skrine was a standout NFL player who played for five teams over his 11-year career: The Cleveland Browns, New York Jets, Chicago Bears, San Francisco 49ers and Tennessee Titans. According to Spotrac, Skrine made $40.372 million as an NFL player.

Anyone who sees Buster Skrine or knows his whereabouts is advised to contact their local authorities.

Buster Skrine’s Solid Run As An NFL Player

Skrine was often overlooked because he had the misfortune of playing on mostly lousy teams during his 11-year NFL career. In fact, Skrine only got to appear in one postseason game (with the Titans in 2021) compared to 158 regular season contests.

But Buster Skrine was among the NFL’s better slot corners during the first half of his career. In four seasons on a woeful Cleveland football team, Skrine recorded six interceptions and 47 pass breakups.

Skrine then signed with the Jets in 2015, joining a team that had just brought back two standout corners in Darrelle Revis and Antonio Cromartie. In his four years as a Jet, Skrine had three interceptions, 30 pass breakups and three forced fumbles.

After a two-year run in Chicago, Skrine split his final NFL season with the 49ers (one game) and Titans (six games) in 2021. That year, he compiled one interception and three pass defenses.
