Justin Fields’ time in Chicago could soon be up.

The quarterback’s name has been the most mentioned where it pertains to trade rumors this offseason. The Pittsburgh Steelers are the most strongly-linked team at the moment, with the Bears likely to move on as they hold the No. 1 overall pick.

According to the MLFootbal account on X, some major sportsbooks have taken down odds on the player’s trade destination, which is understood to suggest that a trade could be finalized as early as today. It could also be taken to mean that the Bears could publicly commit to him.

The latter seems the least likely as general manager Ryan Poles seemed like he was leaning toward a trade during a recent interview.

“It just depends on what opportunities pop up,” he told reporters at the Scouting Combine on Tuesday after he was asked whether he would prefer to trade the QB early in free agency.

“I will say this: If we go down that road, I wanna do right by Justin as well. No one wants to live in gray. I know that’s uncomfortable. I wouldn’t wanna be in that situation either. So we’ll gather the information. We’ll move as quickly as possible. We’re not gonna be in a rush. And (we’ll) see what presents itself and what’s best for the organization.”

Of course, the Bears cannot trade Fields before the new NFL year begins on March 13. Still, it hardly means a deal can’t be agreed upon beforehand.
