Hailey Van Lith’s 2023 season in college basketball ended with a dud of a performance, and now she hopes to rebuild her image and play at another school.

Van Lith went incredibly viral after the Elite 8 due to her inability to contain Caitlin Clark. After the loss, Van Lith would enter her name in the transfer portal.

On Thursday, Van Lith made her final decision as she is set to take her talents to TCU, according to The Next Hoops’ Talia Goodman.

Van Lith spent one season with the LSU Tigers but struggled to make the transition to a point guard role in Kim Mulkey’s offense. Her numbers struggled as a result, as she shot 37.8 percent and scored 11.6 points per game, which were both well below the standards she had set at Louisville.

Head coach Kim Mulkey had no issues with Van Lith’s decision to transfer after just one uneven season with LSU.

“Her aspirations were to get drafted this year, and she realized, ‘I need another year, and I need to go back to a place where I can relax and get back to my normal position,” Mulkey said at a team banquet, according to Nola.com. “And what do you do? You hug her, and you wish her well.”

Hailey Van Lith showed up to LSU with grand expectations after she spent three fantastic seasons with Louisville. She was already joining a loaded roster that was coming off a National Championship victory.

After averaging 15.4 points on 13.2 shots per game with the Louisville Cardinals, Van Lith tallied just 11.6 points on 9.9 shots per game with the LSU Tigers.

Van Lith also went from a 42.2 percent shooter to hitting just 37.8 percent of her shots. The only thing that improved was her 3-point percentage, which went from 33.7 to 33.9 percent.

Van Lith exited the program following a poor showing in the Elite Eight where Clark torched LSU for 41 points while the star could only muster nine points on 2-of-10 shooting, including 1-of-6 from 3.
