Former NFL MVP Matt Ryan has announced his retirement from football.

The former Atlanta Falcons and Indianapolis Colts quarterback is ending his career as a member of the Falcons, having signed a one-day contract to retire with the team that drafted him in 2008.

The four-time Pro Bowler leaves the came as one of the most efficient players of his time, having proved to be as durable and consistent as they come.

Matt Ryan made the announcement via social media on Monday, thanking his former teams and the NFL teammates who helped him become one of the best QBs of his generation.

“So today, 16 years after being drafted, my childhood dream has officially come to an end. I’m honored to retire as a Falcon,” he said in a video posted by the Falcons’ official Twitter/X account.

“You have no control in this profession in where you start. I am so lucky that my start and my finish was here in Atlanta,” he added.
