Star college running back Trevor Etienne was arrested this Sunday morning and has been handed multiple charges, including driving under the influence, and reckless driving.

Etienne, who transferred from Florida to Georgia late last year, has also been charged for affixing materials that reduce the visibility of his windows and/or windshield, as well as failure to maintain his lane/improper driving.

Etienne ran for 1,472 yards and 14 touchdowns with the Gators, having spent two seasons with the SEC program before moving to the rival Bulldogs in December.

The 19-year-old has been tipped to start for Georgia next season, with head coach Kirby Smart needing to find replacements for his leading running backs as both Daijun Edwards and Kendall Milton have declared for the NFL Draft.

“There are similarities between our offense and (Florida),” Smart told reporters last week. “A lot of the same runs, a lot of the same words in some cases. He has not struggled to transition in that part. Getting comfortable in the offense, there are nuances. I have met with him about it. There are differences in the way we do things offensively that he is picking up on. He is very bright. That is not going to be a problem for him.“

Trevor Etienne’s Arrest Is Just One Of Many

Trevor Etienne hasn’t been around that long but is already one of several Georgia players arrested for traffic-related offenses over the past few years.

The university has become notorious for fostering an atmosphere of ill-discipline when it comes to players’ off-field conduct, with one such case leading to the tragic deaths of two people after they won the National Championship last year.

Whether Smart and other Georgia officials have been made aware of the player’s arrest is unknown. But the head coach is expected to address reporters during practice on Tuesday.
