Jim Harbaugh is thought to be nearing a deal that would see him appointed as the new head coach of the Los Angeles Chargers.

OutKick claims NFL sources have told them that a contract between the two parties has been agreed upon in principle where salary is concerned. The Chargers are hoping to iron out other small details when they meet again this week.

While it’s still early to say for sure, OutKick reports that negotiations are past the financial stage, while an insider has revealed that, should he join the Chargers, Harbaugh would earn more than the $12.5 million a year Michigan has offered him to stay on as the Wolverines’ head coach.

Still, it is believed that he will be paid less than the $18 million a year his agent Don Yee proposed when talks with the Chargers began.
