A lawsuit accusing Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott of sexual assault got a major update as it is now being moved to a different Texas county, according to the plaintiff’s attorney and ESPN’s Todd Archer.

Yoel Zehaie, the attorney for the accuser claiming Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott sexually assaulted her, confirmed that they dropped the Dallas County case to move the case to Collin County. The Cowboys’ headquarters are located in Collin County.

Documents in Dallas County said the accuser’s attorney submitted a request for a “non-suit without prejudice,” which means the accuser is voluntarily giving up the case. Still, she could re-file if she wants to.

Zehaie said reports that their lawsuit against Prescott has been dropped entirely are “misleading.”

Dallas police earlier this year revealed there was an ongoing investigation after a report was filed about an alleged sexual assault that occurred in the parking lot of a strip club in early 2017. The woman told Dallas television station WFAA that the incident happened in the back of an SUV after she left the bar where she worked with Prescott.

“It’s kind of embarrassing, to be honest,” the woman said. “But I didn’t ask for that. I didn’t ask for this to happen to me.”

Dak Prescott and his lawyers then sued her on a $100 million extortion claim, which was also in the aforementioned Collin County.

According to his lawsuit, the unnamed woman and her attorneys wrote Prescott a letter in which they said the woman wouldn’t pursue criminal charges or go public with her claims if Prescott paid her $100 million.

Dak Prescott is said to be seeking $1 million in damages in his lawsuit against the woman and her attorneys. His attorney, Levi McCathern, said the quarterback has never had non-consensual sex with anyone.

Yoel Zehaie added that, at the time, Prescott’s extortion lawsuit was “a smoke screen to distract from the real topic that should be discussed. And that is that a rape was committed by Dak Prescott.”

Dak Prescott Hasn’t Received a Contract Extension This Offseason

Prescott signed a four-year, $160 million contract in 2021, and is currently in line for another deal.

If the Dallas Cowboys want to keep Dak Prescott beyond this season, they are going about it in a very strange way as the team seems to be okay with heading into the new year without giving Dak a new deal.

There was an assumption Prescott would either restructure his current deal or sign an extension to lower his 2024 cap hit, but neither action has happened.
