Brad Pitt has been offered a million-dollar deal to reunite with his ex-wife Angelina Jolie in a romantic film, but he has flatly refused. Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie will be given a “check” if they agree to put aside their differences and star together in a film about the Martinez Hotel in Cannes, France.
Producer Danny Rossner said he would pay the couple about $60 million to star in the film adaptation of The Hotel Martinez, a nonfiction love story set in a World War II hotel and casino by Phillip M. Kenny.
“I think right now, Brad Pitt is making $20 million to $25 million per movie and Angelina Jolie is making $15 million. We’re willing to pay 50 percent more than their usual salary,” Rossner said. That means Brad Pitt will get $37.5 million and Jolie will get close to $22 million.
Brad Pitt will play Emmanuel Martinez, the owner of the eponymous hotel during World War II, and Jolie will play Emma Digard, Martinez’s glamorous lover and muse.
However, a source close to Pitt said the actor would never agree to a project involving Jolie, who he believes has caused him so much pain.
“It would certainly get some publicity, but it was never an option he considered,” the source said.
They are enemies now and Brad would not stoop to accept money just to work with Ange… Jolie has caused him so much pain that Brad doesn’t want her mentioned by anyone close to him.”
Rossner, who made his name with the comedy 2001: A Space Travesty, expressed hope that Pitt and Jolie could put aside their differences to join the project he has cherished for the past 20 years.
If it comes to fruition, the project would mark 20 years since the couple met on the set of Mr. & Mrs. Smith.
But the problem is that Pitt and Jolie have been locked in divorce proceedings since 2016, which have never been finalized. Although a judge has declared them legally single, they are unlikely to be in the same room together, let alone film a steamy scene. They are currently embroiled in a legal battle known as the “War of the Roses” over the Chateau Miraval estate.
They were once the most famous couple in the world and are parents to six children: Maddox (23), Pax (21), Zahara (19), Shiloh (18) and 16-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne.
Brad Pitt, who was worth an estimated $400 million, was married to Jennifer Aniston when he met Angelina (worth an estimated $160 million) on the set of Mr. & Mrs. Smith. The film went on to become one of the top 10 highest-grossing films of 2005.
However, with unresolved conflicts and a long-running legal battle, an on-screen reunion between Pitt and Jolie is unlikely.
