Andrew Siciliano, Ian Rapoport, Tom Pelissero and Mike Garafolo of the NFL Network.
It is a sad day around the entire National Football League as we as fans are waking up to terrible news from the NFL Network.
On Thursday, everybody woke up to the terrible news that the Network had fired several prominent employees. Those employees were Andrew Siciliano, Melissa Stark, James Palmer, and Will Selva, according to The Athletic.
Following the 2022-23 NFL season, Andrew Siciliano signed off NFL RedZone for the final time as he had hosted DirecTV’s version of the show since its inception in 2005.
The NFL began its new broadcast deals effective last season, most notably the transfer of the NFL Sunday Ticket package from DirecTV to YouTubeTV streaming service. This move resulted in the closure of DirecTV’s version of RedZone, hosted by Andrew Siciliano.
However, DirecTV and the NFL agreed to a multiyear contract renewal that will not only keep the existing carriage of NFL Network intact for subscribers, but it also added the Scott Hanson-hosted edition of RedZone as most saw this past 2023 season.
With the Network already having a guy in place, it made Andrew Siciliano expendable.
It was reported last month NFL Red Zone host Scott Hanson and Andrew Siciliano would anchor a Gold Zone whip-around show during the 2024 Olympics so we have no clue what happens with that going forward now that the Network has made a decision to cut one of them.
NFL Network Is Cutting Costs Wherever It Can
The news is the latest in a series of reported cost-cutting moves at NFL Network and that also included the decision to move its daily “Good Morning Football” program from New York to Los Angeles.
The cuts are all notable members of NFL Network’s on-air talent and they might not be the last ones to go during this offseason.
