Patrick Mahomes will not be playing in the remaining games of the 2023 season. The Kansas City Chiefs have secured the third seed in the AFC, and as a result, head coach Andy Reid has decided to rest some of the team’s important players during the final week. This means that backup quarterback Blaine Gabbert will be starting the upcoming game against the Los Angeles Chargers.

Quarterback Blaine Gabbert has only played in one game this season, where he threw for 31 yards but had two interceptions. Throughout his career, starting from 2011, Gabbert has accumulated a total of 9,333 passing yards, 51 touchdowns, and 49 interceptions.

Last week, the Kansas City football team secured their victory over the Cincinnati Bengals, winning 25-17. This win not only marked the end of a challenging December but also guaranteed them the AFC West title. The team managed to maintain a 2-3 record for the month.

As the Chargers prepare to face the Chiefs, their season record stands at 5-11, while the Chiefs boast a stronger 10-6 record.

Quarterback Patrick Mahomes is set to complete the season with an impressive 4,183 passing yards, demonstrating a career-high completion rate of 67.2%. He has also thrown 27 touchdowns and 14 interceptions.
