Cam Newton in Panthers jersey. Cam fighting.
Former NFL MVP Cam Newton was attacked by multiple people at a 7-on-7 tournament in Atlanta.

Newton, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2011 draft, appears to get jumped at his foundation-sponsored 7-vs-7 football tournament in Atlanta. The 34-year-old is seen getting attacked and holding off at least four people in the video, with several punches thrown his way.

In the days following, it appears neither side wants any police involved in anyway.

TMZ reported that Cam Newton as well as the people involved in the attack will not be facing jail time because no one wanted to pursue criminal charges against one another.

“Officers at the scene wrote in the docs they don’t know why it all started … but at least one cop recognized right away that Newton was involved due to “his hat and hairstyle.”

Another officer stated in the docs he saw two males “grabbing and pushing” Newton … and he raced over to break things up.

However, once the dust settled … the officer wrote that nobody asked for medical assistance — and furthermore, no one wanted to see anyone go to jail.”

“Neither Mr. Newton or any of the other involved persons who remained on scene indicated that they required medical attention or wished to pursue criminal charges,” the Atlanta Police Department said in a statement Wednesday afternoon.

“The responding officers completed an information-only incident report to document what had occurred. At this time, it is unknown how or why the scuffle occurred.”

Cam Newton’s attackers spoke out about the attack as they were asked about the fight with Cam and what led up to it.

Topshelf Performance coaches Steph and TJ Brown apologized for “portraying” that side of them. They also revealed Cam’s behavior before the 7-on-7 event. They referred to the violence as “typical Cam Newton behavior,” calling him out for “talking junk.”

TSP claimed that the athlete’s words were unprovoked and uncalled for. However, the two men also admitted that they should have been able to have a sit down with Newton to quash any ill will.

“First and foremost like what I want to do… I want to apologize to everybody that was out there. The parents of not just our team but everybody that was affected by,” TSP expressed. “Like we should have been able to sit down and talk. There’s no reason we should be yelling at each other while a game is going on.”

The 34-year-old Newton hasn’t played in the NFL since 2021 but he still has not given up on getting back to the league.

Newton played for the Patriots in 2020, finishing his lone season in New England with 20 total touchdowns (8 passing, 12 rushing), 10 interceptions, and a 7-8 record.

He appeared in eight games for the Panthers in 2021.
