The Washington Commanders’ search for a head coach is believed to be over following their dismissal of Ron Rivera.

According to former NFL quarterback Boomer Esiason, the Commanders should be announcing the appointment of Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson as their new HC very soon, claiming “It’s a lock.”

In a coaching market boasting Jim Harbaugh, Mike Vrabel, and Bill Belichick, Johnson has also been sought after following his impressive job with the Lions. The NFC outfit is headed to the conference championships for the first time in over 30 years, largely due to his contributions.

The Commanders reportedly went all in on Johnson while the Atlanta Falcons were looking forward to a second interview with him despite their heavy links to Belichick.

It appears the new Washington regime has landed their man and will hope to see a significant improvement following a 4-13 finish in 2023.
