Caitlin Clark has started working on her offseason plans of becoming a solid golf player and is training with a former professional golfer to polish her game. Martha Foyer-Faulconer taught the Indiana Fever young star some lessons before she clashes with World No. 1 Nelly Korda and Annika Sorenstam, one of the best female golfers in history.

Foyer-Faulconer, who played on the LPGA from 1987 to 1995, has helped Clark work on her setup, making the player shoot further away from the ball (like in basketball) and taking pressure off her shoulders on short games. A picture shared by her teacher shows Clark and her boyfriend Connor McCaffery practicing at the Crooked Golf Stick Club, during which they discovered Clark’s right eye is dominant.

The event, to be held at Belleair, Florida, is a pro-am tournament scheduled for Nov. 13. Golfweek’s Beth Ann Nichols reported Clark will participate in this competition and the Women’s Leadership Summit one day earlier.

The retired golfer explained that they needed to work on different parts individually before putting everything together to make Clark play at the desired level. The 2024 WNBA Rookie of the Year showed fierce competitiveness and desire to improve her game, improving her game fast and surprising her teacher.

After Clark’s 2024 WNBA season ended, she joked about pursuing a professional career in golf. While that would stay as a joke, she’s showing her abilities to compete at a decent level.

Like in basketball, Caitlin Clark has turned heads on the golf course. Foyer-Faulconer said Clark desires to excel at everything she tries.

“It’s also part of her DNA,” Foyer-Faulconer said, via Golfweek’s Beth Ann Nichols, “because she’s going to do things well. She wants to be as good as she can in everything she touches. She’s very driven and passionate. It’s fun to work with her.”
“Some of this stuff you can’t teach people. They just either have it or they don’t.”
Clark is a terrific basketball player who has proven she can play several other sports. She was a big deal in soccer during high school, and now her focus has shifted to golf.
