Caitlin Clark sets new WNBA career-high for assists (nuna)

Caitlin Clark is only a week removed from setting a WNBA rookie record as the fastest player in the league’s history to 200 points, 75 rebounds and 75 assists.

And the numbers don’t figure to stop piling up anytime soon.

On Sunday in a game against the Chicago Sky, who feature rival Angel Reese, Caitlin Clark set a new career-high for assists. She dished out a whopping 13 assists in the contest, a feat made even more impressive by the fact that several potential assists were opportunities missed by teammates.

Clark finished the game against the Sky with 17 points, six rebounds and the 13 assists. She’s continually showing she’s becoming more and more comfortable in the WNBA.

But while there’s been a learning curve, it’s probably safe to say at this point that there’s been a learning curve for her teammates, too. Caitlin Clark simply makes some passes that many aren’t expecting due to her supreme vision.

One thing the Fever have done to make things easier for Clark is to clearly define how the offense should operate. That’s through Aliyah Boston.

That inside-outside action has made things easier on everyone and led to Indiana’s current five-game winning streak.

“It was hard at the beginning of the season, a lot of new pieces,” ESPN’s Holly Rowe explained. “As they have integrated Caitlin Clark into this lineup they have had to reinforce for the team again that they are going to be an inside-out team. That means more post touches, getting Aliyah Boston the ball, letting her read and pass out of situations, and Aliyah has rolled with that in the four-game win streak.”

After another super productive day for Caitlin Clark and a key road win, things continue to look up.
