Caitlin Clark reacts excitedly to her boyfriend Connor McCaffery’s big announcement
Appointed as an assistant coach at Butler University
Caitlin Clark is celebrating more than just her on-court achievements this week. Shortly after breaking the WNBA rookie scoring record, her boyfriend, Connor McCaffery, landed a major coaching role at Butler University.
On Monday, Butler University revealed that McCaffery, who previously worked with the Indiana Pacers, has been appointed as an assistant coach for the men’s basketball team.
The university expressed its excitement about bringing McCaffery on board in a statement, welcoming him warmly to their program.
“Following a high-level playing career, Connor has had the opportunity to both contribute and learn alongside one of the best staffs in the NBA,” said Butler head coach Thad Matta.
“Those experiences will be very valuable to our staff. He obviously comes from a basketball family that I know very well and I’m excited for the impact he is going to have on our program both quickly and in the long run.
“Greg has meant a ton to me both personally and professionally for two decades. When I came back to Butler a few years ago, I wanted Greg to be part of what we were building. He set a good example for the young men in our program and I know he’ll continue to support them. All of us wish Greg and his family nothing but the best in this next phase of his career.”
Clark’s reaction on McCaffery’s new job
Clark was thrilled for McCaffery and shared a congratulatory message on social media, proudly posting, “Yayyy!!! So happy for you.”
The couple’s support for each other goes back to their time at the University of Iowa, where both played basketball. Since leaving Iowa, they’ve continued to be each other’s biggest champions.
McCaffery has been helping Clark refine her game, while she has shown her support for him during his coaching stints with the Pacers.
