Cardi B made a statement in Rolling Stone magazine revealing that a TikToker’s comment made her cry. The TikToker said she doesn’t take rap seriously and would be better off as an influencer. Cardi clapped back, asserting that she takes her music very seriously, which is why she doesn’t release it frequently—she cares deeply about the quality.

When she mentioned quality, I had to stop reading. I realized where she was heading, and honey, I’m not about to play this delusional game with Cardi. Let’s talk about quality music. First of all, Cardi doesn’t fall into the category of quality music. It’s okay to judge celebrities and the work they put out. Look at shows like The X Factor and American Idol—judges evaluate performances, voices, and how well the contestants do. It’s normal for the public to judge celebrities because the industry makes money from the public. People pay to hear your music, so it’s fair for them to give feedback.

Cardi seems somewhat naive and delusional to me. I feel like she doesn’t write all of her songs, and if you’re a rapper who doesn’t write your own material, I don’t consider you a true rapper. True rappers put pen to paper and create from their own minds and souls. Rap is like poetry; it comes from within you, not from someone else’s brain.

These new-age rappers claim to be rappers but hire others to write their lyrics. That’s not true rapping. Cardi cries because she knows she doesn’t write all her raps, which makes her feel insecure. I’m not saying she’s awful, but I don’t consider her a true rapper. The fan might have been right—she should stick to being an influencer or even an actress, but not a rapper.

And the funniest part? Her beef with Nicki Minaj, an actual rapper. It just doesn’t get any more absurd than that. What do you guys think? Is Cardi B a true rapper, or was the fan right in suggesting she stick to influencing?
