Champions League draw recap: Liverpool handed nightmare fixtures as Man City and Arsenal opponents confirmed

The draw for the revamped Champions League has been confirmed

The draw for the revamped Champions League with 36 teams involved in the new-look league phase has been concluded.

In a significant change from the usual group stage draw, the Champions League league phase is now official. The draw took place in Monaco with Premier League sides Manchester City, Arsenal, Liverpool and Aston Villa finding out their opponents as well as defending champions Real Madrid.

Liverpool have been handed arguably the most difficult fixtures from England’s representatives in the draw as they welcome Real Madrid to Anfield as well as Xabi Alonso’s Bayer Leverkusen after the Spaniard rejected the chance to replace Jurgen Klopp in the summer. They will also travel to face AC Milan at the San Siro.

Manchester City and Arsenal both face Inter Milan, Paris Saint-Germain and Sporting Lisbon.
