You rarely see Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid or quarterback Patrick Mahomes voice or display any signs of frustration, but both men uncharacteristically went off following Sunday’s loss to the Buffalo Bills.

The Chiefs’ Week 14 home loss to their conference rivals didn’t come without controversy. Kadarius Toney’s late go-ahead touchdown was called back because of a questionable “offside” penalty. The Chiefs subsequently turned the ball over on downs and fell 20-17.

Mahomes went off on the officials following the Chiefs’ loss, per the NFL on CBS X/Twitter account.
“To take away greatness like that. I know as fans you want to see the guys on the field decide the game…To make a call like that? It’s tough man. Loss for words…it’s just tough. Regardless of we win or lose…we’re talking about the refs…not what we want for the NFL and for football.”

Per Jared Koller of KCTV, Reid didn’t hold back in voicing his feelings about the officiating in his post-game press conference:

“Very disappointed it ended the way it did…Normally I get a warning before something like that happens in a big game. A bit embarrassing in the NFL for that to take place…I didn’t have a protractor out there, but it’s a bit embarrassing.”

The Chiefs are now 8-5 and just a game up on the Denver Broncos for tops in the AFC West. They’ll try to get back on track against the New England Patriots next Sunday.
