Indiana Fever head coach has one of the toughest jobs in sports. She’s tasked with developing what’s already viewed as one of the top women’s basketball players. With Clark comes immense pressure, and many fans believe Sides hasn’t been ready for the spotlight.
The Fever are 3-9 this season, despite Clark coming in as the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 WNBA draft to “change the franchise.” Sides has had to deal with online scrutiny, backlash from the media, and even subtle shots from stars on other sports platforms.
Sides was recently under fire for her treatment of the Caitlin Clark, Team USA situation.
Clark was left off the final 12-team roster for Team USA’s trip to the Summer Olympics in Paris, France. Sides shared with the media Clark’s response, which she personally texted to Sides.

Clark reportedly texted Sides saying, “Hey coach, they woke a monster,” via Chloe Peterson on X.
Fans believed Sides crossed the line, sharing personal information from Clark. They’re roasting her for revealing that information, mentioning she is “not media trained.”
While there were some fans who admired Sides’ response, many were furious with the news.
