Days after rapper Latto attended her WNBA debut against the Dallas Wings, Chicago Sky star Angel Reese received congratulations from several celebrities, including Coco Gauff and La La Anthony for graduating from LSU. Reese posted a series of pictures of herself on Instagram, in graduation garb, with a defiant message.

“So now what? what was said? oh okay that’s what i thought. I graduated from THE LOUISIANA STATE UNIVERSITY IN 4 YEARS ON TIME💋 i thought somebody without a college degree said sum.😘,” she wrote.

Tennis star Coco Gauff, WNBA star Te’a Cooper and reality television actress La La Anthony were among the celebrities who congratulated Reese on her graduation in the Instagram comment section of her post.

“Congratulations love,” La La Anthony wrote.

“Congrats,” Coco Gauff wrote.

“Clock it,” Te’a Cooper wrote.

How Angel Reese responded to critics

The saga of Angel Reese and her GPA became a major talking point during the just-concluded women’s college basketball season alongside some of her actions, including speaking out on her marketability and trash-talking opponents.

During an interview with On3 after Caitlin Clark’s Iowa Hawkeyes had eliminated LSU Tigers from the Elite Eight of the 2024 NCAA tournament, Reese explained how she handles being the subject of so much vitriol.

“I want people to underestimate me,” Angel Reese said (as per ESPN). “I’m telling you, I have everything bookmarked for the right moment when everything just falls right into my hands.”

“They said I was too worried about social media, my GPA was low, I was pregnant,” Reese said. “Yeah, my stats have gone down maybe four to five points because I’m on a way better team this year. But I’m still averaging a double-double every game. I think people don’t realize I can do 10,000 things and still be good at all of them. And I can’t wait till just everything just falls right into place.”

When ESPN projected Reese to be the No. 8 pick last year, LSU coach Kim Mulkey revealed that the star was upset at her ranking although it seemed to have worked out with her No. 7 selection by the Chicago Sky.

Reese has been addressing the issue of graduating on time long before she posted the clap back on Instagram and now that she’s in the considerably brighter lights of the WNBA, the scrutiny that she undergoes will likely be softened by her graduation from LSU.
