The Utah State Aggies had a disappointing season in 2023, finishing seventh in the Mountain West.

They enter 2024 in hopes of a bounce-back year, but they’ll have to do it under a new head coach, as Blake Anderson will not be back on the sidelines this season. He was the bench boss for the last three seasons. This comes after he was put on administrative leave with the intent to be fired just three days after the birth of his child.

Not much was known about the reason for the move that was first reported by Brett McMurphy, who first posted to X stating, “Utah State coach Blake Anderson after being put on administrative leave.” However, a motive has now been revealed for the move.

The X user Nicole Auerbach posted to the platform a screenshot of a couple of paragraphs explaining the reason for Anderson’s termination. Coach Anderson reportedly “violated both his employment agreement and university policy” in 2023.

Utah State Head Coach Blake Anderson Violated His Contract

The actions in question reportedly happened back in spring of 2023 after he refused to comply with the university’s Title IX policy. The post seems to indicate that the new former head coach may have refused to report incidents of sexual misconduct.

Not only has Anderson’s contract been terminated, but Associate Vice President & Deputy Athletic Director of External Affairs Jerry Bovee and Director of Player Developement & Community Austin Albrecht have also been let go.

There has been no further comment as of the writing of this article because there is currently a 14 day response period that allows Anderson to respond to the allegations and possibly appeal. If no action is taking by the former head coach, more information may bereleased at a later day.
