There isn’t a single person on this planet who isn’t familiar with the iconic ‘King of Pop’, Michael Jackson. Whether you love him or hate him, it is undeniable that the man conquered the music industry, whether for his distinctive voice, or eccentric behavior. But can you imagine growing up with him and having him as your father?
In an exclusive interview on Mike Tyson‘s podcast, Hotboxin’ with Mike Tyson, Prince Jackson, the son of the legendary ‘MJ,’ shared a surprising revelation about his upbringing with the superstar, leaving listeners stunned.
Prince Jackson’s Biggest Regret About Father Michael Jackson
In the podcast, a fan of his father, DJ Whoo Kid, is curious to know if Prince had been to any of ‘MJ’s concerts. “I was born in ’97, so the biggest, call it a regret is I never got to see him,” Prince Jackson confessed. The statement prompted an incredulous response from the podcast’s co-host, who exclaimed, “What?!“
But Prince clarified, “I did get to see him perform at Madison Square Garden right before 9/11 for the Jackson Five.” This tidbit of his past raised curiosity among listeners, eager to learn more about the young Jackson’s experiences.
DJ Whoo Kid inquired whether it was challenging for Prince to establish his identity apart from his famous father, to which he responded, “I think it’s who you talk to, you know? Everybody kinda expects that.” He shared that his father shielded him and his siblings from the public eye by having them wear masks when they went out. However, this changed after Michael Jackson’s passing, with his grandmother deciding they should lead a more normal life.
Mike Tyson chimed in with his characteristic candor, stating, “I don’t wanna be f**king normal.” He pondered the fleeting nature of life, suggesting that normalcy might not be the ultimate goal.
The conversation veered into humor, laughter filling the air as they pondered a life devoid of fame’s expectations. Mike Tyson playfully suggested that he would make sure the whole world never knew his name if he could. According to Page Six, Prince and his siblings, Paris Jackson (25) and Bigi “Blanket” Jackson (21), lead fulfilling lives.
In this captivating podcast exchange, Prince Jackson’s revelation – his regret of not recalling his father’s performances – offered a rare peek into the Jackson family’s life, reminding us that the offspring of icons face distinct challenges amidst the fame and identity struggles.
