Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott has broken silence on his ankle injury a week after being spotted in a walking boot.

Last week, Cowboys fans immediately became concerned when Dak Prescott was seen walking around with a boot on his right foot. This is the same ankle that Prescott fractured in 2020, leading to season-ending surgery.

Though it was widely reported that the injury wasn’t anything serious, Prescott eased worries anyway by stressing that he’s going to be just fine.

Per ESPN’s Todd Archer, Prescott said he felt pain in the ankle “following two hard workouts” and wore the walking boot out of caution during a vacation. Prescott doesn’t expect the ankle to be a problem when training camp commences.

In fact, Prescott was spotted walking around without the boot on his leg during an appearance at his annual football camp for kids:

Dak Prescott is entering the final season of a four-year, $160 million deal he signed in the 2021 offseason. Surprisingly, Jerry Jones has yet to reach an extension with his star quarterback, wide receiver CeeDee Lamb and linebacker Micah Parsons.

Lamb is entering the final year of his rookie contract, while Parsons is eligible for a contract extension after completing three years of his rookie deal.

Dak Prescott Is Coming Off A Career Year

The 30-year-old Prescott had the best statistical season of his career in 2023, completing 69.5 percent of pass attempts (a personal best) for 4,516 yards and a league-leading 36 touchdowns against only nine interceptions.

Prescott finished second in MVP voting, behind Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson. But once again, Prescott’s strong performance in the regular season failed to carry over to the postseason. His Cowboys were soundly defeated 48-32 by the seventh-seeded Green Bay Packers in the Wild Card Round, dropping Dak to 2-5 in the postseason.

Dallas will try to start out 2024 on a high note when they visit Myles Garrett and the Cleveland Browns on Sept. 8. That also marks Tom Brady’s debut as an NFL analyst for FOX Sports.
