Deion Sanders does not want Caleb Williams playing in a city like Chicago, nor does he want his son to play there.

The former USC Trojans star is very likely to be picked by the Bears at No. 1 unless they decide to stick with Justin Fields and trade their pick. But they’d probably have already traded it if they didn’t plan on drafting a quarterback this year.

Still, you never know. They could have a change of heart.

As for Sanders, he is not okay with the idea of the 2022 Heisman Trophy winner going to play in such a cold city.

“Let me tell you something that I have a problem with,” he said in a recent interview on SiriusXM Mad Dog Radio (H/T ProFootballTalk.com). “And this kid can flat out play, I think he’s the best one on the board this year for sure. A kid that’s coming from California for the last couple years, right? And went to Oklahoma. That’s not terribly cold.”.

“Chicago’s cold, man. You gotta think about that kind of stuff when you’re taking a young man. Like see, when you take a guy from Ohio State and you bring him to Chicago, OK, I could understand that. But from California to Chicago? Not only that, they added what? One or two more games in the NFL. Seventeen games. Come on, man. You gotta factor in that stuff. That stuff matters.”

Coach Prime, whose son Shedeur plays for him at the University of Colorado, doesn’t want his son playing in cold weather either.

“Like, I don’t want my kid [Shedeur] going nowhere cold next year,” he added. “He grew up in Texas. He played in Jackson, played in Colorado. Season’s over before it gets cold in Colorado. I’m just thinking way ahead. I don’t want that for him.”

While Caleb’s going to the league this year, Shedeur has got one more year of college left.

He had a very good first year playing for the Buffaloes, throwing for 3,230 yards and 27 touchdowns, breaking a few school records along the way. However, he was the most-sacked QB in college given the team’s offensive line frailties.

Prime has brought in some players to improve the team in that regard, so it will be interesting to see how Shedeur fares in 2024.
