NBA Superstar Devin Booker has always been a big trash talker. He often engages in verbal altercations with his rivals both on and off the court. According to him, this verbal warfare is part of the game and is nothing serious or unique but rather something that should be encouraged in the game.

The talented Point Guard of Phoenix Suns has always proved himself worthy on the court with his performances and dynamic style of play. But what separates him from others is his charisma and attitude that very few players have in sports entertainment. His beef with Paul George got him a new reputation and he has stuck through with it.

Devin Booker explains reason behind trash talking

Devin Booker has had many altercations with some of the top players of the league. Luka Doncic, Klay Thompson and Nikola Jokic are just few of those names who have had a verbal clash with Booker. Booker recently appeared on The Old Man and The Three podcast with JJ Redick where he explained his reasoning behind his trash talk.

Booker said “I don’t know where that came from where I just started doing it as of late.” He added “But I feel like trash talking is a lifestyle. In the environments I grew up in, it is something I have been doing since we’ll say yay-high [referring to childhood]. I have been doing this in everything we did. Not just basketball. There is an art to it.”

Fans on the internet are divided, with some calling this verbal warfare essential part of the game that brings out the best in everyone included in the game, while others call it simply disrespectful towards the sports that is watched by millions of people worldwide.

Booker talks on NBA rivalries

JJ Redick asked Devin Booker about the rivalries in NBA in response to which Booker replied that there are not a lot of rivalries left in the NBA. Luka Doncic is currently believed to be his biggest rival but Booker added that he is not someone who will agitate a rivalry but rather someone who is an avid competitor who will not back down from a challenge. “Believe it or not, I usually don’t start it. But all I need to do is hear any little thing and well” Booker said.

Booker added “I say there are no real rivalries because grassroots basketball. A lot of these guys we have known for a really long time, and I think people just realize that it is not that deep half the time. People always say, ‘Oh, they are not about to fight out on the court. They are not about to do that.’ Yeah, that’s a half a million dollar fight. Nobody should do that. I have not heard it too many times where crazy lines were crossed on the court, but it has happened, and I have seen people handle it behind the scenes in the correct way like it should be handled.”

Devin Booker is definitely a character that the game needs right now to amp up the competition and intensity between the players. He has been compared to the legend Kobe Bryant by many pundits due to his mentality. Booker has a unique style makes him different and that is why Phoenix Suns see him as a leader that paves the way for excellence.
