Diana Taurasi Has High Praise For Caitlin Clark After First Meeting In The WNBA (PO)

Diana Taurasi

Diana Taurasi is arguably the greatest women’s basketball player of all time. The 42-year-old has won everything there is to win in the sport, and when she speaks, people listen.

On Sunday, she played against Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark, the rookie sensation that surely hopes to one day have that GOAT title that Taurasi may have currently. After the game, Taurasi had great things to say about Caitlin Clark following the Fever’s 88-82 win over the Phoenix Mercury.

Clark struggled shooting at 4-14, but had a great all-around game, scoring 15 points, dealing out 12 assists, and grabbing 9 boards. She barely missed becoming the first rookie in WNBA history to record a triple-double.

Meanwhile, Taurasi also struggled from the floor, going 5-15, and ended up with 19 points, 3 rebounds, and 3 assists.

After the game, Taurasi was asked about Caitlin Clark, and here’s what she had to say.

It’s amazing. What Caitlin’s been able to do in her short career so far has been nothing short of remarkable. The one thing that I really love about her … she’s put the work in. Even throughout her short WNBA career, it’s been a lot of pressure, a lot of things thrown at her and she keeps showing up and she keeps getting better every single game. So her future is super bright.

During the Final Four, when Taurasi was doing an alternate ESPN broadcast with former UCONN and Team USA teammate Sue Bird, she warned Caitlin Clark, saying “”Reality is coming….you look superhuman playing against some 18 years olds but you’re going to come play with some grown women that have been playing professional basketball for a long time”.

But, it seems like Diana Taurasi has warmed up to Caitlin Clark, and that’s good for the WNBA.

Taurasi is gearing up for the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, France, as she goes for her sixth gold medal. Meanwhile, Caitlin Clark was controversially snubbed, with some claiming that she should be there over the past-her-prime Taurasi.
