Months after disgraced owner Daniel Snyder sold the Washington Commanders, he is back in the news for something good he did.

After the market stalled, former Washington Commanders owner Daniel Snyder made the decision to donate his multimillion-dollar Maryland estate to the American Cancer Society, according to the Washington Post.

Snyder tried his best to sell the mansion even going as far as to drop the asking price from $49 million to $34.9 million. However, there were still no takers. Imagine that, nobody in this economy wanted to scrap up $34 million for a mansion.

Dan Snyder originally purchased the estate from King Hussein and Queen Noor of Jordan in 2001 for a mere $8.64 million. In that time, he would go on to add 15 total acres and it would be completed in 2004.

The mega mansion went on the market in February 2023 but not even a drop in price could get it off his hands. The listing was removed Monday, according to Zillow.

Soon, it would be revealed that the American Cancer Society purchased the home for $0 on March 7th.

A spokesperson for the American Cancer Society said the organization intends to sell the property and use the proceeds “to advance our mission of improving the lives of cancer patients and their families.”

Dan Snyder Sells The Washington Commanders After Controversial Tenure As Owner

The NFL fined Dan Snyder $60 million after an investigation into alleged interpersonal and financial misconduct during his tenure as owner.

Dan Snyder would soon enter into an agreement to sell his franchise to a group led by Philadelphia 76ers owner Josh Harris. It was believed to be for $6.05 billion, the largest price ever paid for a North American sports franchise.

Snyder’s tenure as owner of the Commanders has been plagued with issues as he reportedly interfered with an NFL investigation of allegations of sexual harassment by team executives.

In 2021, the NFL fined the team after an independent investigation determined the franchise had a toxic workplace culture. Getting Dan Snyder away from the league was a positive thing.
