The Kansas City Chiefs will be without Marquise Brown for at least four games following a concerning injury update to the star wide receiver.
According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Marquise Brown needs surgery on his injured shoulder and will be placed on the injured reserve. This means the 27-year-old will miss at least four games.
Kansas City signed Brown to a one-year deal in free agency following a two-year stint with the Arizona Cardinals. The 2019 first-round pick missed the Chiefs’ season opener (a 27-20 victory) over the Baltimore Ravens, so his highly-anticipated Kansas City debut will have to wait even longer.
The Chiefs next four games are against the Cincinnati Bengals, Atlanta Falcons, Los Angeles Chargers and New Orleans Saints. They have a bye in Week 6 before traveling to San Francisco to take on the 49ers in a Super Bowl 58 rematch.

It’s an unfortunate break for Marquise Brown, who has only played an entire regular season once over his six-year career. That was in 2020 with the Ravens, when he suited up for all 16 contests.
‘Hollywood’ missed one game in 2021, five in 2022 (his first with the Cardinals) and three more in 2023. Brown also missed two contests during his 2019 rookie year, when Lamar Jackson won his first MVP Award.
In 72 career NFL games, Marquise Brown has 313 receptions for 3,644 yards and 28 touchdowns. His best season came in 2021, when he caught 91 receptions for 1,008 yards and six touchdowns.
Chiefs Need Other WRs To Step Up Without Marquise Brown
With Brown out for at least four months, the Chiefs will need Rashee Rice, prized rookie Xavier Worthy and veterans Skyy Moore and JuJu Smith-Schuster to step up and help Patrick Mahomes.
Worthy and Rice had excellent Week 1 outings against a dangerous Baltimore secondary. If the Chiefs can get more of that with Brown sidelined, they’ll be just fine.
