The 45-year-old legendary Fox sideline reporter said she was “mortified” during her early days in the media.
Andrews revealed her heartbreak on the latest episode of Calm Down with Erin and Charissa where she revealed to Thompson about something that happened in the Tampa Bay Buccaneers locker room.
“I was working kind of freelance for an Orlando station. They wanted sound from the Bucs locker room,” she said.
“A particular player was so nasty to me. He physically turned his back away from me in the middle of his scrum. He also told me to go back, rehearse my question, and come back when I was ready. I was mortified.”
“I was 19/20 years old. I had practiced, I did slip up a little bit, I had stumbled.
“He knew it and he knew I was young. I instantly started having tears come down my face and two players in particular – Derrick Brooks and John Lynch – saw it and said, ‘What do you need?’”
Lynch was drafted as the 82nd overall pick (third round) in 1993 by the Buccaneers. He played 15 seasons with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Denver Broncos, accumulating 1,059 tackles, 13 sacks, 26 interceptions, 16 forced fumbles and nine fumble recoveries.
Brooks played 13 years all for the Buccaneers and was an 11-time Pro Bowler during his career. He won Defensive Player of the Year and Walter Payton Man of the Year during his playing days, which also saw him win a Super Bowl.
Andrews once used to patrol the sidelines for the Worldwide Leader in Sports, but she left ESPN after eight years back in 2012 for a better opportunity.
In 2012, Andrews moved to Fox Sports, where she continued her work as a sports reporter and host. She has been involved in Fox’s NFL and MLB coverage, as well as major events like the Super Bowl.
She remains on Fox’s top NFL team, alongside Kevin Burkhardt and Greg Olsen, and sometime in the future, Tom Brady when he finally starts his broadcasting career.
