One person was killed and multiple others, including children, were injured in a shooting after the Kansas City Chiefs’ Super Bowl victory parade.

At least 22 people were wounded and one has been killed in a shooting at the Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl parade. Eight of whom suffered immediately life-threatening injuries and seven of whom suffered life-threatening injuries. They also said three suspects were detained.

Like everybody else, Adam Schefter couldn’t believe his eyes.

“We could be talking about this particular event at a school, we could be talking about it at a mall, we could be talking about it at a nightclub,” he said. “We could be talking about it in any facet of America. This is our country today, unfortunately, where you have a celebration happening in Kansas City – to celebrate the world champions and a shooting breaks out to where now ABC news has confirmed that one person has lost their life.”

“…We are left here now to try to make sense of this particular situation. These images are happening everywhere all the time, every day, every week in this country,” Schefter added, via Awful Announcing.

“It’s disgusting. It’s sickening. It’s enough. How many times do we have to see this everywhere? Today, it’s the Chiefs’ turn; it’s at a Super Bowl parade. Tomorrow, it will be somewhere else. Somebody else will lose their life, and we will continue to come on and try to make sense of something that is inexplicable.”

A Children’s Mercy Hospital Kansas City spokesperson later stated 11 patients were kids and nie had gunshot wounds. All patients at Children’s Mercy are expected to make a full recovery.

According to Kansas City Police, shots were fired west of Union Station near the garage.

The gunshots were heard around the end of the rally which was celebrating the Chiefs’ 25-22 overtime victory over the San Francisco 49ers in Sunday’s Super Bowl LVIII.

It is truly sickening that a day like Valentine’s Day as well as a championship parade can still bring out the hatred some people have to cause chaos and forever change the lives of others as a result.
