Pro Football Hall of Famer and two-time Super Bowl-winning quarterback Peyton Manning would like to give football coaching a shot if the opportunity presents itself at the 2028 Summer Olympics.
Following his playing career, many wondered if Peyton Manning would go into coaching, and for good reason. Renowned for his ability to read the defense and make the necessary adjustments at the line of scrimmage, the five-time league MVP had a special mind and football IQ that few others could match.
While Manning hasn’t expressed any interest in becoming an NFL or NCAA coach, the 48-year-old admits that there’s one prominent football coaching gig on his mind.
During his appearance on “The Pat McAfee Show,” Manning said that he would love the opportunity to coach the United States flag football team at the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, California.
“I’d like to be a coach on that team. There’s no way I’m getting picked now that Eli (Manning) has beaten me twice (twice in the Pro Bowl)…Kyle Shanahan, Sean McVay might be more qualified.”
And maybe, just maybe, Peyton Manning will get into football coaching.
Peyton Manning Is Gearing Up For Another Year Of “ManningCast” With Brother Eli
Five years after he retired from football, Peyton and younger brother Eli Manning teamed up to begin the “ManningCast” for ESPN’s “Monday Night Football” program. The show airs on ESPN2 and ESPN+, and it features live in-game analysis from the pair of two-time Super Bowl champions.
The show has become a major hit for the Worldwide Leader in Sports, with most episodes averaging over a million viewers. In May, it was announced that former New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick will appear on every episode of the “ManningCast” for 2024.
The episodes feature special guest appearances from other pro athletes and major celebrities. Aaron Rodgers, Will Ferrell, Ray Lewis, Mark Wahlberg and Arnold Schwarzenegger were among the special guests who appeared last year.
